The FIFINE K683A microphone changes the volume automatically.

For Windows users, under "recording devices", right click "USB PnP Audio Device"/"FIFINE K683A Microphone", choose "Properties", click "Enhancement", and uncheck the "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."

For Windows and Mac users, check if the feature of automatically adjusting the microphone level has been enabled, which is commonly seen in software of Discord, Skype, etc.

Take a look at our blog to find the details: How to Fix Microphone Control Adjusting Itself

How to reduce the K683A self-noise or background sound without software or a plugin?

Take a look at these steps:

🎤Background Sound

  1. Turn the mic back to the noise source.

  2. Go to computer sound settings and turn down the volume level of the input and output to around 50%-75%.

  3. Adjust the on-board volume to 50%-75% and put the mic close to your mouth (about 3’’).

  4. Spend 15 bucks on an arm stand (A bit expensive way)

🎙️Humming/Hissing/Static

  1. Restart your computer and plug the mic into another USB port.

  2. Keep smartphones, tablets, routers, etc, away from the mic; especially don't place electronics on the cable of the mic.

  3. It's better not to connect other electronic devices to the power outlet that’s powering the computer.

  4. Go to computer sound settings and turn down the volume level of the input and output to around 50%-75%. Adjust the on-board volume to 50%-75% and put the mic close to your mouth (about 3’’).

  5. Keep your microphone at a suitable angle to avoid breathing air below the mic capsule (45 degrees)

For the latest Windows users, in order to access the sound settings, please right-click the speaker icon at the bottom right-choose "Sound", and click "Sound Control Panel" at the upper right of the pop-up window.

What can I do to fix the K683A from clipping?

It is a rather sensitive microphone designed to pick up the clarity of sound. But if your voice is towards treble in the first place, then you have to pay a bit more attention to the level setting. And speaking of which, the volume dial level is the most crucial. Thus, please turn down the control to 60%, set the input level under computer audio settings to 80% and keep the speaking range around 5 inches.

It is much better to open up a software, such as OBS or Audacity, which has a level meter to gauge the loudness of your voice. When the meter moves between -16 dB to -12 dB, you are getting pretty decent sound. If not, then turn down or up the dial to have better better-suited level setting.

How to Prevent K683A from Picking Up Speaker Sound in Zoom?

Instead of using speakers, either internal or external, please use headphones or earbuds to connect to your computer or K683A. Then the mic will not pick up sound from the output device, thus no more echo will be heard.
