AM8 & SC3 set up on XBOX

What you need:

  • FIFINE AmpliGame AM8 (Using its XLR output)

  • Xbox Chat Adapter (for official Xbox controllers)

  • 3.5mm TRRS (4-pole) Y-splitter cable (mic + headphone ports)

  • Another 3.5mm TRRS cable

  • Ground loop isolator (essential if controller is wired/charging)

Connection Steps:

  • Connect Mic to Mixer: Plug the AM8 microphone into the SC3 mixer's XLR port using an XLR cable.

  • Enable Mic Monitoring: On the SC3 mixer, press the MIC Monitor button until the white LED is brightly lit. This is critical for audio passthrough to Xbox.

  • Connect Adapter & Splitter: Plug the Official Xbox Chat Adapter into your official Xbox controller's bottom port. Connect the Y-splitter to the adapter.

  • Add Ground Loop Isolator: Connect the isolator to the SC3 mixer's LINE OUT port.

  • Link Mixer to Splitter: Using a 3.5mm TRS (3-pole) cable, connect the ground loop isolator to the MIC port on the Y-splitter.

For Third-Party Wired Controllers:

Omit the Chat Adapter. Connect the Y-splitter and ground loop isolator directly to the controller's 3.5mm port.

AM8 Settings on OBS Filters

Microphone FIFINE AmpliGame AM8 delivers exceptional native clarity. For broadcast-quality refinement in challenging environments, strategically applying software adjustment - OBS filters noise suppression and noise gate filters is a great boost to minimize unwanted background noise while preserving vocal clarity for your streaming and gaming mic AM8.

1️⃣ Applying Noise Suppression

  • Navigate to OBS audio filters for your AM8 source.

  • Enable the built-in Noise Suppression filter.

  • Select the RN Noise algorithm for superior quality, acknowledging its slightly higher CPU utilization. Alternatively, test other available suppressors based on your system resources and desired audio result.

Note: Suppression may attenuate certain vocal frequencies. Minor EQ adjustments post-suppression may be necessary to restore optimal tonal balance.

2️⃣ Configuring the Noise Gate:

  • Add a Noise Gate filter.

  • Set Thresholds: Observe your OBS audio meter level during speech and silence.

  • Open Threshold: Set this value slightly below your typical speaking level (e.g., if speech peaks around -15dB to -20dB, set Open Threshold to approximately -25dB). This ensures the gate opens reliably for quiet speech.

  • Close Threshold: Set this value lower than the Open Threshold (e.g., -35dB to -40dB). This prevents the gate from closing prematurely during speech tails or slight pauses.

  • Fine-tune Attack/Release/Hold sliders if needed, though defaults often suffice initially.

By correctly implementing these filters, your FIFINE AmpliGame AM8 will deliver exceptionally clean, professional-grade audio, effectively eliminating background hums, fans, or ambient noise during live streams or recordings. Experiment within OBS to find the perfect balance for your environment and voice.

AM8 EQ Setting for Streaming

With its premium sound quality and exceptional on-camera presence, the FIFINE AmpliGame AM8 has become a top choice for an increasing number of streamers. To truly unlock its potential and enhance your vocal clarity, tailored EQ settings are essential. Fine-tuning your audio can make your stream more engaging and professional.

OBS EQ Setup

In OBS, use the built-in 3-band Equalizer for quick and effective voice shaping:

  • Reduce mid frequencies by approximately 3 dB to reduce boxiness.

  • Boost low frequencies by about 3 dB to add warmth and depth.

  • Boost high frequencies by around 3 dB to enhance clarity and presence.

  • This classic "smile curve" EQ offers a quick improvement for vocal articulation.

Reaper Plugins for Precision

For finer control, install Reaper VST plugins and load the ReaEQ plugin in OBS:

  • Apply a high-pass filter around 80-120 Hz to remove low-end rumble.

  • Gently boost around 250 Hz with a wide bandwidth for added warmth.

  • Cut around 500 Hz to reduce nasal tones.

  • Use a high shelf above 1,000 Hz to increase vocal presence and brightness.

  • Add a low-pass filter around 14-16 kHz to reduce harshness.

These targeted adjustments help the FIFINE AM8 deliver balanced, broadcast-quality audio tailored specifically to your voice.
