If you have an order that was not charged with any sales tax, yet you know sales tax should have been applied, the most common reason is that a shipping address was not entered into the customer account.

If there is no shipping address on the order (or in the customer’s account), then Figure and/or ShipCompliant have no state or zip code to reference as to which sales tax rate gets applied.

If it is just a pickup order and the customer doesn’t provide you a shipping address, a good point of reference would be to put in the address where the order is being picked up (the winery, tasting room, fulfillment house, etc).

Then proper sales tax will get applied.

To fix that order you should update the shipping or pickup address by clicking the “Edit Shipping” button in the Billing & Shipping section of the order details page.

**Very Important**You should also add that same shipping or pickup address to the customer’s account so it doesn’t happen again on their next order.

To apply an additional payment to this order, just for sales tax, depending on your Figure app, the option could be in two places.
1-Scroll down to the bottom of the order and you will see a button that says “Apply New Payment to this Order”.
OR
2-Scroll to the middle of the order, underneath the grid totals section that shows Subtotal, Shipping, Sales Tax, Discounts, Credits, Total. There will be a link that says, “View Payments and Refunds”. Clicking that will show an “Apply Payment” button.

In both cases, a window will appear where you can apply dollars to the sales tax cell only and process to the customer’s credit card on file.
