The Offset POS app can be downloaded for free in the Apple App store on iPad or iPhone. See our Offset POS Configuration article for details on how to get started.
Accepting Payments on iPhone
If you have an iPhone, you can it to directly charge or a save a customer's credit card without needing an external device, since our app includes support for Apple's "Tap to Pay" functionality.
Accepting Payments on iPad
If you are using an iPad however, you will need to use an external Stripe M2 reader to do so.
Stripe Card Readers
For use with an iPad, these readers are $59 each and come with a charging cable. You will need a dedicated reader for each iPad that is running the POS app. They are terrific devices, and allow for tapping or inserting cards.
If you have your own Stripe account, you can purchase these card readers directly from Stripe (see our Offset POS Configuration article for additional setup steps.) If you are on Offset's Stripe Connect account, we'll need to purchase one on your behalf and will need to collect the following information from you over the phone to place an order:
Company credit card
Expiration date
Security code
Billing zip
Email address for confirmation receipt
Shipping name
Shipping address
Phone number
This will allow our team to buy the chip readers for you and have them shipped.
Card Reader Accessories
You can also purchase an aluminum countertop Dock and a charging station for $19. They are nice and weighted so if you'd like to have your reader and iPad in a fixed position on your countertop, it's a great addition.
Another accessory option is to purchase a plastic mount for your M2 reader for $5 to connect it directly to the iOS device you're pairing it with. This could be a good option for businesses that have multiple readers and devices to help track which are paired with each other.
iPad Devices
Most iPads should be able to use the POS, here are a few you could purchase if you don't have one already.
We also recommend an iPad keyboard to make typing speedier when customers share their name, email, shipping addresses etc. You can purchase this independently of us. Please note that only iPad Air and Pro are compatible with the keyboards.
