Next Generation - Use and set up nominal attributes

The Nominal Attributes allow you to define a list of values which maybe be applied to a Category record and then used to provide extra levels of analysis for the nominal ledger.
Attributes are additional properties that you can set against your nominal categories, just like sort keys can give you extra levels of analysis.
You may define as many different types of attributes as required and then you can specify what the attribute values are.

Example of using attributes:

  • Your company has regional offices covering the North, East, West and South.

  • You can create an attribute named Region which might consist of East, West, North and South.

  • Region could then be applied to your Category list for office, and you may then define whether each office relates to which attribute.

  • Let's say that you have offices in London, Colchester, and Harpenden, so offices London and Harpenden would have an attribute of South while your Colchester office would be assigned to the East attribute.

  • You can then filter your Nominal Summaries to only include any records where the attribute is South so only nominal accounts that use the London and Harpenden categories are returned.

Set up Attributes:

  1. Click Financials then click Settings.

  2. Click Attributes and click on the New button to create a record.

  3. Enter a Code and then click on Insert new record button on the left hand-side of the screen to set up the values of the new attribute.

  4. Enter a Code and a Name for all values you wish to add.

  5. Click Save.
