To help organize your payroll and other expenses, you can allocate your employees into jobs in conjunction with cost-center levels, tasks, and other categories (such as locations, positions, and pay groups) in Fingercheck. For example, a construction company might have several job sites, and a job is created for each site. Another type of business might use jobs for different types of positions (such as cashier, greeter, and so on).

Import Job Sites

If you have multiple job sites, you can import the list from a spreadsheet.

  1. Sign in to your Fingercheck account as an Administrator.

  2. Click the SETUP tab > Company > Jobs.

  3. Click the Import Jobs icon.

  4. In the dialog box that appears, click Download Sample File.

  5. Open the file, and add your jobs to the file.
At a minimum, add the following required information:

    • Code

    • Description

    • JobMapCode (optional)

    • JobAddress (for example, 1000 Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, USA)

    • Rate

  6. Return to the Jobs page, and click the Import Jobs icon again.

  7. In the dialog box that appears, click Upload File, and select the file.

  8. Click OK.
The jobs appear in the Jobs list.

Job Fields

Field

Description

Code

An abbreviated name for the job. In combination with the Description field, this makes up the full name of the job as displayed in other areas of Fingercheck.

Important: If your employees will be selecting a job from a time clock, the codes must be numeric. You can enter a question mark (?), and the next available number is entered.

If not using time clocks, you can automatically add alphanumeric codes with up to 5 letters. Enter the letters and the? (for example, abc?) and press Enter. The field displays abc1. The next job would be coded abc2.

Description

A short, descriptive name for the job.

Code Mapping

If you are using the General Ledger feature, enter the name of the job that is in your GL software (such as QuickBooks).

Rate

The flat rate to give all employees doing this job (for example, $11 per hour).

Do not enter a Rate Code or Earnings Code below if you enter a rate here.

Rate Code

To use a rate code, select a code from the drop-down list.

Earning Code

To assign a specific earning code for the job, select an earning code.

For more information, see How to Set up Earning Codes.

Earning Type

Leave this field empty or select a specific type to classify those hours (for example, Worked).

Master Profile

Select a master profile for this job to use.

Selecting a master profile is helpful if you want to set up a custom overtime policy for the job. The policy would be set in the master profile.

Workers Comp Code

Select a workers comp code for this job.

Tax Work Location

Select a tax work location to allocate taxes for this job to a specific tax work location other then the employee's home location.

Cost Group

Leave this field empty for future use.

Select this checkbox to make the job inactive (no longer in use). Employees will no longer see the job when they punch in.

Add To Punch if Default

Select this checkbox if you have an employee automatically assigned to this job and you want all these punches to be allocated to this job only. For example, if an employee does not select a job when punching in, use this job as the default.

Billable

Select this checkbox if you want this job to be billable. This is related to your general ledger.

Location

Enter the job location’s address.

Location IP Address

Enter the job location's IP address.

  2. Click the SETUP tab > Company > Jobs.

  3. Click the pencil icon to edit a job to make inactive.

  4. Scroll down to the Inactive checkbox appears and select it.
