By creating an exception policy, you can have your employees' time cards flagged every time they trigger an exception. These exceptions can also appear in your dashboard.

How to set up an exception policy for missed punches

  1. Log in to your Fingercheck account as an Administrator.

  2. Click the SETUP tab > Policies > Exception Policies.

  3. Click Add.

  4. In the Code field, enter an abbreviated name (for example, MP).
In combination with the Description field, this makes up the full name of the policy as displayed in other areas of Fingercheck.

  5. In the Description field, enter a short descriptive name (for example, Missing Punch).

  6. From the Exception Type drop-down list, select MissedOutPunch.

This option is triggered if an employee has an odd number of punches. For example, if they punch in and forgot to punch out. Or maybe they punched out but did not punch in.

  7. To adjust how urgent the exception appears on your dashboard, select one of the following options from the Exception Severity drop-down list:

    • Low

    • Medium

    • High

Selecting High displays the exception in red on the dashboard.

  8. Click Save.

To receive live punch alerts in real-time by email, text message, or push notification, see How to Set up Missed In Punch Notifications.
