Working with Charts

Create and edit your first Dashboard charts.

Updated over a week ago

Create a new chart

From within your dashboard, find the Plus "+" icon top right. Select the type of chart you want to create. Choose between the following elements:

  1. Text & title: to create headers or add additional information

  2. Number: to show a single number, with options for comparison

  3. Chart (periodic): a line or bar chart to see movements over time

  4. Chart (waterfall): a waterfall chart to see movements between periods

Text & Tile

On the right hand side, configure your tile: set a Title and a Support text and press Save. You can resize the tile on the dashboard.

Number

On the right hand side, configure your tile: set a Title and a Support text. Next, set which Structure and Mapping you want to display. Set the Time frame (Last month, current month, YTD) and optionally a Delta, with a previous period or forecast scenario). Do not forget to press Save.

Chart (Periodic)

On the right hand side, configure your chart: set a Title and Horizontal axis. For Vertical axis, you can select to set a default and custom Axis. Select the toggle if you want to stack Bar charts.

Now start adding data to your charts by adding series. Within Series 1, select a Title and select the Structure and Mapping you would like to display. For the latter, you will find all classes from the P&L, Balance sheet, Cash flow statement and KPIs listed below each other. Select which Type of chart (bar, line, dotted line) you want to display. Configure if you want to display an Actual or a Forecast scenario. Set the Timeframe and if you want a YTD aggregation. You have the option to Invert numbers and use a secondary Y axis for this series. Add a new series by pressing the “Add series” button below.

Make sure to press the “Save” button when you are done. You will be sent back to the dashboard and you can reposition and resize the chart to your liking. You can always go back to the dashboard by the “Back” button, yet know changes will not be persisted.

Chart (Waterfall)

On the right hand side, configure your chart: set a Title and Horizontal axis. The latter determines which periods are compared: the blue columns in the chart.

Now start adding data to your charts by adding series. These will be the Mappings that are included in the blue columns, and their mutations in the red & green columns in the middle. Within Series 1, select a Title and select the Structure and Mapping you would like to display. Add a new series by pressing the “Add series” button below. A typical example will be the EBITDA waterfall. In this case, we select the following mappings in three series: [1] Revenue, [2] COGS, [3] OPEX.

Make sure to press the “Save” button when you are done. You will be sent back to the dashboard and you can reposition and resize the chart to your liking. You can always go back to the dashboard by the “Back” button, yet know changes will not be persisted.

Editing or deleting an existing chart

To make changes to an existing chart press the Eye icon in the top right corner of the chart. You will first be sent to the Chart details where you can start discussions on datapoints. Find the Pencil button top right to edit the chart. You will be sent to the same configuration page as in creation. Don’t forget to press “Save” after making changes. Here you can also find the garbage bin icon to delete a chart.

For Text & Titles and Numbers , this works similarly, however without the details page. Find the Eye icon top right and make changes to the configuration. Don’t forget to press “Save”. Deletion also happens through the garbage bin icon.

Chart details

Find the Eye icon in the top right corner of a chart (periodic or waterfall) to go to the Chart details. This will allow you to see the chart expanded and inspect individual datapoints. Click on a single data point to open the side panel. On your right hand side, you can see the value, find underlying data (”drill-down”), add a Description and start a Discussion.

Drilldown to GLAs

In Chart details, press any value in the side panel on your right hand side to explore the value of the datapoint on the granularity of the Mapping and break down to individual GLAs.

Drilldown to booking entries

After the first drill-down to GLAs, it is possible to go a level deeper by selecting one of the cells displaying the value of the GLA in a certain period. Press the value, and you will drill-down to the granularity of the GLA and see individual booking entries. Press an entry on your left hand side, to open a side panel on the right hand side with more details. In this side panel, it is also possible to download attachments (eg. invoices), when available.

Note on a data point

In Chart details, add a Note in the side panel on your right hand side. This field will persist (you don’t have to save) and will be available to everyone to describe what happened in this data point. The note will be available on your chart when you hover over the data point. These note are on the data point level, and therefore also available through Reporting.

Discussion on a data point

In Chart details, start a Discussion by using the Comment field in the side panel bottom. Start typing your message and mention team members using the “@” sign. Press comment to store your message. These discussions are on the data point level, and therefore also available through Reporting.
