ℹ️ What to do if it looks like your login screen is frozen, hanging, or you see an endless spinning wheel.

Updated over a week ago

Google recently changed their sign-in to be managed from the browser. This means that you need to authorise your log in to First Draft Pro by clicking this pop-up when it appears:

If you accidentally dismiss that notification, you may see a screen like this, that looks like it's endlessly loading 👇 (don't worry, it's super easy to fix).

How to reset permissions for Google Sign-on

  • Click on the "View site information" button on the far left of the URL bar.

  • This will bring up a menu that gives you access to additional controls.

  • Under "Third-party sign-in", click on the "Reset permissions" button.

  • Click the "X" to close the site information menu.

  • Once the site information menu is closed, this option to reload will appear. Click on it.

  • Click on the continue button to confirm your log-in with Google.

Other tips

Disable ad-blockers

You might have an ad blocker turned on that is interfering with the Google sign-in popup.

Here's how to fix that:

  1. Temporarily turn your ad blocker off.

  2. Refresh the page, and you should see the Google sign-in popup.

  3. Log in to First Draft Pro via Google sign-in.

  4. Immediately turn your ad blocker back on (it should not affect you again).

Disable plugins

If you don't have an ad blocker turned on, and you're still experiencing this issue, it might be an extension plugin that is attempting an autofill and preventing you from accessing the pop-up (for example, 1Password).

Temporarily disabling the plugin solves it immediately.

This is a one-time issue that only affects you on the first login. All successive log-ins should be simple and smooth.
