🩹 Nanowrimo Day 22: Regroup after battle 2

What to write for NaNoWriMo today, based on the classic 3-act story structure.

Updated over a year ago

This week, you're taking your characters from that high point, all the way into the depths of their misery. The tree is on fire. The turkey is on fire. Everything is on fire.

What to write today

Today you're writing the aftermath of battle 2 [35,000–36,674 words]:

  • Allow your characters to regroup. Where does this leave them concerning their external goals?

  • Consider where this leaves each character in their character arc. Have they moved closer to their internal goal, or further away?

  • How does the outcome affect your sub-plot? Bring these consequences into play.

Update your running editorial note

At the end of the day make a note of any off-course deviations, potential inconsistencies, areas to research further, or moments of inspiration to revisit when you edit in December/January.
