How to tell if your project is using FDP's new writing technology

There will be a transition period over the next few weeks as we work on converting existing projects to the new writing experience.

We are in the process of completely updating the underlying technology that forms the basis of the writing experience in First Draft Pro. The update gives you a lot more formatting options and enables us to make improvements more easily in the future. We're really excited about it.

Any new project that was created after the 25th of December is using the new technology. Any existing project that was created before the 25th of December is still using the old technology.

The easiest way to check if your project is using the new experience or not is to check the toolbar. Highlight the text in your project.

There will be a transition period over the next few weeks as we work on converting existing projects to the new writing experience. This should all be entirely resolved by the 20th of January.

As a result of the update, projects created before the 25th of December are currently experiencing an issue when splitting a scene in the manuscript that results in text malformation. We are currently investigating this issue, and apologise for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, we recommend that you avoid splitting scenes in existing projects until we've resolved the issue.
