Podcasts usually deal with multitrack recording and basic editing tools for post-production purposes.
Free recording and editing software
For beginners, we recommend using Garageband for those on Mac and Audacity for those on Windows.
This is probably the go-to software for audio editing and creation for those running on iOS or Mac operating systems. If you are a solo podcaster, you can simply plug in your USB microphone to start recording.
If you are a pair of podcasters planning to simultaneously record your podcast on the same computer, search for "Finder" > "Utilities" > "Audio MIDI Setup."
At the bottom left corner of the screen, select "+" and choose to "Create Aggregate Device." Select the input devices you want to use.
2. Audacity
If you're operating on a Windows computer, Audacity is likely one of the easiest and most popular free-to-use recording software out there. It supports both single track and multitrack recording, making it ideal for solo podcasters, a pair podcasters, and even a group of podcasters through an external recording device.
