Create and insert templates in my programs

How do I use templates to save elements of my work to use in other programs.

Updated in the last hour

You can create single part, day or week based templates on FITR to use across all your programs. Build up commonly used batches of work so that you don't have to start from scratch each time.

Building a template from scratch:

To build a template from scratch, simply head to 'Templates' from your main programming menu.

Here you'll have the option to build a day or week-based template.

Day templates can be a minimum of one part, e.g. a warmup you want to use a lot, or a group of parts that you commonly use together.

Week-based templates are just that, they are built on a weekly structure, so longer cycles of training that you use commonly, or even a week's worth of warmups you'd like to save in a set format.

Remember you're always free to add more programming after inserting a template and even edit the template programming once you've inserted it into a program's schedule.

Note, the original template will not be affected by updates once it's inserted in a program. To edit the original, head back to Templates from the main menu.

Saving from a program directly to a template:

Maybe you're building some programming for a client and think you'd like to save it as a template to use later on for something else, well you can.

Save a single or multiple parts as a day template:

  1. Click on one or more parts in a single day

  2. At the bottom of the screen you'll see a button appear that says 'Save as template'. Click this.

  3. Choose whether to save as a new template or add to an existing template (more on this below).

Saving single weeks:

  1. Simply click the save icon that appears on the right hand side of each week

  2. Choose whether to save as a new template or add to an existing template.

Saving multiple weeks:

  1. On the training schedule click the checkbox next to each week that you want to save.

  2. At the bottom of the screen you'll see a button appear that says 'Save as template'. Click this.

  3. Choose whether to save as a new template or add to an existing template.

Save as a new template or add to an existing one?

If you 'save as new' you will be given the option to give your template and name and then save. If you choose to 'add to existing', the week(s) you've selected will be added to the end of the existing template.

Inserting a template into a program

Hover over any day on the program's schedule and you'll see the option to insert a template:

You'll then be shown both day and week based templates you can insert. If you insert a week-based template on any other day than Monday (or day 1), the system will remember the structure of the template and insert it into the client's calendar, remembering exactly the format you built it in.

For example, a week-based template has programming on day 1, 3 and 5. If you inserted this into a program on a Wednesday, the system would recognise day 1 as Wednesday, 3 and Friday and so forth.

Templates can be inserted in any program by a coach, but Fixed Length and Session1 Day 1 program types have specific caveats:

In Fixed Length and Session 1 Day 1 programs when you insert a template (from your message my hunch is this is what you’re referring to) it inserts as additional week(s) at the end of the calendar. These two programs types are structured by Week 1, Week 2, etc (unlike 1-2-1 and GRC programs which are structured as actual annual calendars, Jan-Dec). In FL and S1D1 programs Templates Insert by adding new week(s) at the end, so the underlying format of the existing weeks 1,2, 3, etc isn’t affected / reshuffled by week/weeks inserting in-between.

Therefore to move content around, ie move content in week 5 to a different week, you can use the up/down arrows on the right-hand side of a week (near the delete week, clear week’s content etc icons). You can also clear a week/weeks content and then paste new content in.

CAUTION - Deleting a week/weeks in a FL & S1D1 program deletes it from the underlying format/structure. If there are multiple Tracks then beware; deleting week 4 in any track also deletes week 4 in all other tracks, so by implication anything content they had as well. Clearing week/weeks content on the other hand only clears the content for the week/weeks in that particular track, it doesn’t delete the week in that track or any others.

If you need anymore help on this please do get in touch on live chat.

Thanks
