How Is Own Shipping Cost or FBR Calculated in FiveX?

Shipping Cost Calculation Logic in FiveX

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Understanding how your shipping cost is calculated in FiveX is crucial for managing your margins and pricing strategy effectively. This guide explains the standard calculation method used for determining your net shipping cost when using custom shipping settings in FiveX.

Standard Shipping Cost Calculation

When setting up your own shipping cost in FiveX, two main components are considered:

  1. Flat Shipping Cost – A fixed amount charged per order, regardless of the number of items.

  2. Pick & Pack Cost – A per-unit cost added for every product in the order.

Example 1: Single Unit Order

Let’s say you’ve set:

  • Shipping Cost: €5 (flat rate)

  • Pick & Pack Cost: €1 per product

If a customer orders 1 unit, the total shipping cost will be:

€5 (Shipping) + €1 (Pick & Pack for 1 unit) = €6

Example 2: Multiple Units of the Same Product

Now, suppose the customer orders 3 units of the same product:

€5 (Shipping) + (€1 × 3 units) = €5 + €3 = €8

As shown, the Pick & Pack cost is multiplied by the number of units, while the flat Shipping Cost remains constant per order.

Important Note

This is the default calculation method unless you opt for "Shipping Cost Per Product" in your FiveX settings. If you choose that option, the shipping calculation will behave differently, applying the base shipping cost per product instead of per order.
