Understanding what Duplicate Connections are and how to avoid them

The simplest way to understand duplicate connections is to imagine carrying 2 or more copies of your house key or fob every time you leave your home.

The 2 keys might technically be different (1 is gold, 1 is silver), and they both work, but they take up space unnecessarily and are redundant.

Summary

In the context of Flatly, duplicate keys may function but they can create unnecessary manual work for you in connection and job management, and are not recommended. In some cases, duplicate keys may even conflict and interfere with each other.

Do I have duplicates?

If you remember entering exactly the same credentials more than once, or navigating the same account in a popup more than once, and if the connection names are identical, they are probably duplicates.

How to Fix Duplicate Connections

If you are confident your connections are duplicate, you should do the following:

1. Attach each of your jobs (using job settings below) to your main connection (usually connection 1).

2. Disconnect each duplicate connection (usually connection 2, connection 3, etc.). Connection controls appear at right when you hover on a connection.

Tip: If you only need one connection per integration (most common) and you want to save a lot of time in de-duplication, you can Disconnect All at the integration-level (hover over the integration logo and look right) and start fresh. Disconnect All at the integration-level may take up to 5 minutes to complete.

3. Reconnect your primary connection using 'Reconnect' -found by hovering over your connection and looking right.
