Background: Because Flatly is a conduit app which does not present business data in the application interface, it offers a unique superior security posture including features like Destination Lock.
Destination Lock is a security feature in Flatly that lets you lock all of your Data Destinations to achieve the following:
(1) prevents existing Data Destinations from being changed.
(2) prevents new Data Destinations from being created.
If you elect to enable Destination Lock, a random secret is generated for your account. Important: You must store this secret in a secure private place.
β
Should you want to make any changes to your Data Destinations from your Dashboard page, you must enter this secret into a prompt to unlock Data Destination management capabilities for the duration of your current session.
Destination Lock will automatically be re-locked when you sign out and sign in from Flatly.
Hence if your Flatly account is ever compromised, the attacker will have no ability to re-route your sync jobs to send your Data Source data to the attacker's Data Destination. They will see only your job settings i.e. "metadata" and not actual business data.
β
βWhat if I lose my secret?
If you lose your secret, you can simply disable Destination Lock which erases all of your Connections, both Data Source Connections and Data Destination Connections.
Your jobs are preserved, saving you significant time. You will simply need to re-authorize your Connections from scratch which might take a few minutes.
