The assign VIN functionality allows users to input a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to an OBD2 device in cases where the device is unable to automatically detect it. This ensures that the devices connect quickly preventing time wasting back and forth's with the vehicle and multiple start-up cycles.
When to Use Assign VIN?
You may use it for every device installation and pairing, as this will ensure the device connects immediately.
You may also only choose to use the plug and play feature of the OBD2 device and only assign VIN if:
The OBD2 device fails to automatically detect the VIN.
You receive a message indicating a missing or incorrect VIN (ex: still connected to an old vehicle)
You want to ensure a quick install.
