On behalf of all of us at Flipd, we hope this message finds you well. As your trusted partner, we believe it's important to share the steps we've taken to ensure the uninterrupted continuity of our services as we manage the global impact of COVID-19.

We recognize that many of our customers will be moving from an in-person learning environment to online courses at this time. This article provides the details you need to know in order to smoothly transition your use of Flipd over to an online learning environment and how you may even maximize your use of Flipd during this time. As one Flipd instructor pointed out to us: "Flipd will be even more important as the students won't have the behavioral constraints of the classroom setting to help them."

COVID-19 Plan for Instructors Using Flipd

In-class Lessons

If you're continuing in-class lessons as usual, and your regular class schedule remains the same, then we recommend that you continue using Flipd the same way. This is an excellent opportunity to encourage your students to stay focused on their learning and to help reduce their anxiety from external communications and the media. Your 50-minute lesson could be a big relief from the stress this news is causing.

Online Courses

If your classes are moving to an online learning environment, we have created three different scenarios for your situation. Please take a look at the illustration above and follow these instructions accordingly:

Scenario A: New Schedule For Online Courses

  • This scenario is for instructors of online courses that are on a fixed schedule which differs from your current class schedule. For example, instructors using Zoom for their lectures may fall into this scenario.
  • We suggest that you create a new class schedule on your Flipd dashboard. Make sure the new dates and times reflects when your new online class will meet.
  • Once your new class schedule has been created, contact Flipd customer support at info@flipdapp.co. Our team will migrate students from your in-person Flipd class into your online class. This will ensure students will not experience trouble joining your new class.
  • Your new class schedule will run as normal. Like before, students can check in with Flipd attendance, stay engaged with your lecture with their phones Flipd Off, and submit a pop quiz at the end (if you're using one).

Scenario B: Unscheduled Recorded Video For Online Courses

  • This scenario is for instructors of online courses that are not on a fixed schedule and will be releasing recorded videos that students can watch at any time. For example, instructors uploading videos to Blackboard may fall into this scenario.
  • We suggest that you create a new class schedule on your Flipd dashboard, which reflects the date of upload for your lecture. You may want to make the length of your "class" a full day, which permits students to view the lecture and use Flipd at any time on the date of upload. If you have trouble creating this type of schedule, contact our team at info@flipdapp.co.
  • Once your new class schedule has been created, contact Flipd customer support at info@flipdapp.co. Our team will migrate students from your in-person Flipd class into your online class. This will ensure students will not experience trouble joining your new class.
  • Flipd will notify your students on the date of the lecture upload. Students can check in with Flipd attendance, stay engaged with your lecture with their phones Flipd Off, and submit a pop quiz at the end (if you're using one).

Scenario C: Regular Class Schedule For Online Courses

  • This scenario is for instructors of online courses that are on a fixed schedule which is the same as your current class schedule. For example, instructors using Zoom for their scheduled lectures may fall into this scenario.
  • As long as your online class schedule remains the same as your in-person class schedule, nothing needs to be changed; your Flipd class schedule will run as normal. Students can check in with Flipd attendance, stay engaged with your lecture with their phones Flipd Off, and submit a pop quiz at the end (if you're using one).
