What are the selling fees for eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and other platforms?

Here are the fees Flippd uses to calculate your profit for each selling platform. Fees are applied automatically when you record a sale, using the platform's current structure.

Fee Structure Types

Flippd supports two fee structure types:

  • Simple -- a base percentage with optional per-order fixed fee, payment processing fee, and minimum fee

  • Tiered -- the fee changes based on the sale price (e.g., a flat fee under a threshold and a percentage above it)

A fee can combine several components:

Component

What It Is

Base percentage

Percentage of the gross sale (e.g., 13.6%)

Fixed fee

Per-order flat charge (e.g., $0.40 per transaction)

Payment processing

Separate processor fee, often percentage + per-order amount

Minimum fee

Floor charged when the calculated fee would otherwise be lower

Tiers

Different fees based on sale price ranges

Worked Examples

eBay -- $50 sale

13.6% × $50 = $6.80, plus $0.40 per order → $7.20 fee

Poshmark tiered -- $10 sale

Falls in the under-$15 tier → $2.95 flat fee

Poshmark tiered -- $40 sale

Falls in the $15+ tier → 20% × $40 = $8.00 fee

Etsy -- $30 sale

6.5% × $30 = $1.95, plus $0.25 transaction, plus 3% × $30 = $0.90 → $3.10 fee

Facebook Marketplace -- $5 sale

10% × $5 = $0.50, below the $0.80 minimum → $0.80 fee

Good to Know

  • Flippd applies these fees automatically when you record a sale -- no manual math

  • You can enter a custom fee amount for promotional rates, eBay Store-subscription discounts, or category-specific rates (e.g., eBay's lower fees for certain categories)

  • Most marketplaces collect and remit sales tax to buyers on your behalf -- this is not a fee to you and is not part of platform fees. Use the Taxes field only when you are remitting sales tax

  • Extras like eBay Promoted Listings, Etsy Offsite Ads, or shipping label upcharges aren't part of base fees -- record them as Adjustments

  • Platform fees change periodically -- Flippd updates the defaults, but always verify with the platform for the latest rates

  • Custom platforms support the full structure: percentage, fixed fee, payment processing, minimum fee, and tiers
