When you add an expense, snap or upload a photo of the receipt and Flippd reads it for you -- automatically filling in the amount, date, and store name. The receipt image is saved in the cloud so you have a record at tax time.
Step-by-Step
When adding or editing an expense, tap the camera icon and choose Camera or library
Take a photo of your receipt, or pick one from your photo library
Flippd scans the receipt right on your device -- you'll see a scan animation sweep over the image -- and reads:
The amount spent
The date of the purchase
The store / merchant name
The fields fill in for you, and a banner shows "Filled from your receipt -- tap any field to edit"
Check the details, fix anything that's off, and tap Save
Snapping the Photo
On Android, Flippd opens its own in-app camera instead of handing off to the system camera. This keeps Flippd open while you shoot, so a half-finished expense is never lost if your phone runs low on memory. iOS uses the standard camera.
The Receipt Thumbnail
Once a receipt is attached, its thumbnail offers a few quick actions:
A green "Scanned" chip confirms the text was read
Tap to view -- open the receipt full-screen
Rescan -- read the receipt again
Remove -- delete the photo
Correcting What the Scan Got Wrong
The scan does its best, but receipts vary. If the amount, date, or store comes out wrong, just edit the field before saving -- your correction is what gets stored. Flippd uses these corrections as feedback to keep improving how it reads receipts, so the more you fix, the better it gets over time.
If a Receipt Won't Scan
If Flippd can't read a photo, you'll see "Couldn't read that one -- enter details manually." Your photo is still saved -- just type in the amount, date, and store yourself and save as usual, or tap Rescan to try again with a clearer shot.
