Contact Level Budgets

Written by Jane Gilhooly

A contact budget is a budget that relates to a specific customer or supplier from your accounting platform.

A contact budget fills up with actuals from a specific contact, whereas a non-contact budget will fill up at the accounting category level.

Setting up contact budgets allows you to control which actuals (invoices and bills) fill up which budgets, so you can easily see where customers and suppliers are over, or under budget.

Creating contact level budgets is done in the same way as normal budgets, with an additional field available to assign a contact.

If you don't need that customer level insight and don't want to use contact budgets, that's absolutely fine.
The contact field is optional, so you can choose to leave it blank and any actuals will fill up the non-contact budgets in chronological order as they do now. This means that you can have contact and non-contact level budgets within the same account row.
