There are a couple of reasons why your authenticator app code may not be valid.

The code has timed out. Authenticator codes used for Float are only valid for 30 seconds, so you might need to try entering another code.

Another common reason for code errors is that the time on your 2-Factor Authenticator app may not be synced correctly. Authenticator app 2FA codes are based on time and require the time on your phone to be in-sync with the official time.

If your phone's time is out of sync, or if you have changed time zones, the best way to fix it is to change the time settings on your phone from "Manual" to "Automatic".

If you want to make sure your time is set correctly, please follow the instructions below.

For iOS (Apple iphone):

  • Go to the iphone settings app (your phone settings area)

  • Select General

  • Select Date and Time

  • Enable set automatically (if it's already enabled, disable it, wait a few seconds and re-enable)

For Android:

  • Go to the main menu on the app

  • Select Settings

  • Select General management

  • Select Date and time

  • Enable Automatic date and time

(Android instructions may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer of the phone.)

Alternatively, if you use the Google Authenticator app for Android you can try the time sync feature here.

It's also worth checking to see if the time on your computer is set correctly.
