Stripe & 1099 Reporting

Will Drip issue a 1099-K if I get paid out via Stripe?

Drip does not issue tax forms directly. If you receive payouts through Stripe, Stripe is responsible for issuing a 1099-K when required by U.S. tax reporting rules.

When does Stripe issue a 1099-K?

Stripe may issue a 1099-K if all applicable IRS or state reporting thresholds are met for a given calendar year.

For federal tax reporting, payment processors like Stripe have historically been required to issue a 1099-K when both of the following thresholds are met:

  • $20,000 or more in gross payments, and

  • 200 or more transactions

Note: Some states have lower reporting thresholds, which may result in a 1099-K being issued even if federal thresholds are not met.

If your account does not meet reporting thresholds, you may not receive a 1099-K. This is normal.

How does this affect Drip sellers?

If you use Stripe as your payout method on Drip and your Stripe account meets reporting requirements, Stripe will issue a 1099-K and file the same information with the IRS.

The 1099-K reports gross payment volume only and does not account for refunds, fees, chargebacks, or expenses.

Steps to ensure accurate tax reporting

1. Verify your Stripe account and tax details

Stripe may request tax information (such as a W-9) to meet reporting requirements. Make sure your legal name, address, and tax details in Stripe are accurate and up to date.

2. Set up Stripe payouts in Drip

Log into your Drip account and navigate to Seller Hub → Payouts → Stripe to connect your Stripe account.

Setting up Stripe ensures payouts are processed correctly, but does not guarantee a 1099-K will be issued.

When and how will I receive my 1099-K?

If Stripe issues a 1099-K:

  • Forms are typically made available by January 31 following the tax year

  • Delivery may be electronic or by mail, depending on your Stripe settings

You can access your form by:

  1. Logging into your Stripe account

  2. Navigating to Tax Forms in account settings

Important tax reminder

You are required to report all taxable income even if you do not receive a 1099-K. The 1099-K is an informational form and does not determine your final tax liability.
