Flow analytics on Meraki MV*2 cameras requires an external processor to run our computer vision software, Flow Vision.

For set-up instructions and PC specifications, please see this article.

The camera sends a video feed to the processing computer that runs the software to produce the analytics.

These analytics are then transmitted to the Flow platform for visualization and activation.

Local Processing

Typically, a company’s network configuration dictates where this processor may sit.

In most cases this processor is located within the store. This always is the most stable and simplest method of processing.

Centralized Processing

It is possible, within some corporate network configurations, for a centralized processor at a head office to be set up to handle video streams from multiple locations. This method requires significant bandwidth to support the camera feeds that are then processed at the centralized processor. For Bandwidth guidelines please contact Flow Support for the most up-to-date guidance.

The following caveats from Meraki are applicable.

Video Streaming Caveats from Meraki

  • Only live video can be streamed.

  • Only 2 simultaneous streams per camera.

  • No built-in remote access. The link will only work when streaming locally.
