Overview
Data queries are the lifeblood of Fluent - they are required to give the LLM context of what data you want to include in a report, how you want to filter and break it down, and whether the data should be blended, or single platform.
There are two main ways of adding a data query to a report.
You can create the query from scratch, on a report by report basis
You can import a base query from another report, and immediately begin using that query or make amendments to it first.
This article will explain how to do both.
Step 1a: Adding a new data query
Open the Doc Report you want to add the data query to.
Select the section of that report that you want to add the query to (i.e. the ‘Google Ads Performance’, section).
On the right hand side of the report, select the ‘+ Data Query’ button.
Choose the ad-platform you want to pull the data from.
You can then select the ‘Metrics’ you want to include in the report. They will appear as blue pills once selected.
Once you have selected your required ‘Metrics’, you can then apply ‘Breakdowns’ or ‘Filter’ depending on your requirements, i.e. by campaign, or ad-type.
You can add and remove various Metrics, Breakdowns or Filters, by selecting more options, or clicking the ‘x’ next to the respective objects name.
Once finished, Fluent will either name your data query based on the metrics, breakdown and filters selected, or if you have a standard naming convention, you can give your query a custom title, at the top of the data query set-up box.
Once you are happy with your query, click ‘Done’ in the top right.
This will return you to the main configuration page. From here you can add an additional query, repeating the process above, or if you are finished, click ‘Save’.
Fluent relies on data queries, so the platform can understand what data you want to pull in and what data it should be analysing. Data queries must be set-up so Fluent can begin generating reports.
Step 1b: Importing an existing data query
Open the Doc Report you want to add the data query to.
Select the section of that report that you want to add the query to (i.e. the ‘Google Ads Performance’, section)
On the right hand side of the report, select the ‘Import Data Query’ button.
This will provide a list of all the data queries configured in the platform. You can search through these queries, or scroll through to find the query you want. Click on the query you want to import.
If you have created master queries to use across multiple reports, it is important that your have good naming convention so you can remember, and find them quickly.
Once you have successfully imported your query, you can click into it, by clicking on the query, to make any required amendments to it. This might be adding a different way of breaking it down, filtering it, or adding an additional metric.
[Optional] Step 2: Deleting a query
If you have added a data query that you now want to remove, you can click the ‘Delete’ symbol [Trashcan], next to the query in the main section configuration menu to remove it.
[Optional] Step 3: Duplicating a query
If you have added a data query that you now want to duplicate, you can click the ‘Duplicate’ symbol [Overlapping squares], next to the query in the main section configuration menu to duplicate it.
You have now completed the required set-up for the Doc Report.
The next step is to generate your report, so Fluent can analyse your date, generate insights and share them in your chosen format.
To generate a report, click ‘Generate’.
