Editing a Chart in Fluent Slides

Charts in Slides can be edited through three methods: using AI via Chat with Slide, manually adjusting chart titles and types, or using the chart settings panel to modify axes, colours, and data. All changes can then be regenerated to update the slide.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Step 1: Edit a Chart Using “Chat with Slide”

  1. Select the slide that contains the chart.

  2. Click the Speech Bubble icon to open Chat with Slide.

  3. Give Fluent instructions such as:

    • Changing chart type

    • Updating axes

    • Adjusting the colour scheme

  4. Fluent will regenerate the chart based on the data available in the slide’s Slide Data settings.

  5. Note: Fluent can only produce chart types that are compatible with the selected data.

Step 2: Edit a Chart Manually

  1. Select the chart element on the slide.

  2. Click into the chart title to update it.

    • The updated title acts as implicit instruction to Fluent about what the chart should represent.

  3. In the pop-out above the chart, click the Chart Type icon.

  4. Choose a new chart type from the available options.

  5. After editing:

    • Click the Magic Wand to regenerate without instructions, or

    • Click the Speech Bubble to regenerate with specific guidance.

Step 3: Edit a Chart Through Chart Settings

  1. Select the chart, then click the Cog (Settings) icon in the chart pop-out.

  2. In the chart settings panel, you can:

    • Change the chart title

    • Update the chart type

    • Adjust the axes

    • Modify the chart’s colour scheme (beyond the theme defaults)

    • View the chart’s underlying data table

    • Upload a CSV file of custom data if you want to build a fully custom chart

  3. After making any changes, click Save Changes.

  4. Regenerate the slide:

    • Use the Magic Wand to regenerate automatically, or

    • Use the Speech Bubble to regenerate with detailed instructions.
