How to add your own marker to FluoroFinder and/or assign a fluor to a marker even if there are no commercially available conjugates.

Do you want to assign a fluorochrome to a particular marker but that color is not showing up as an option in FluoroFinder? There are several reasons why a color might not be listed but the most common is that there are no commercially available conjugates in the FluoroFinder database for that marker/color combination. This is often the case if you are conjugating your own antibodies in the lab. If you are working with your own novel marker, there certainly will not be conjugation options available in the FluoroFinder database.

Don't worry, there is a way to solve this problem. Just enter your marker as you normally would on the Markers Page by selecting something from the marker drop down options or by typing in your own custom marker name. Then, after you continue to the Products Page, look for the "Colors with no products" button.

Clicking this button will tell FluoroFinder to add all optimal colors to every marker column. You will notice a small zero in parenthesis next to some of the color options. This is telling you that there are no antibodies in FluoroFinder's database with this marker/color combination. Selecting one of these options will pop up a warning message to alert you of the situation but go ahead and click the purple button to add that color as a placeholder in your panel design.

In this example, we added BV421 to "John's Custom Marker" so that John can now see BV421 in the spectra viewer and on the summary page to remind him that he will be using his own conjugate for this marker in his experiment.
