How to add frame-by-frame feedback in the Focal Media Player

Updated over 3 months ago

When you upload creative assets into a Creative Board in Focal, you can access the Media Player by double-clicking on the creative asset. This is where you can leave frame-by-frame feedback on the asset, add annotations, and manage version history.

Annotations

Clicking anywhere on the creative asset will automatically allow you to annotate and draw on the asset as part of the comment. In the left-hand menu, you have a few different options for different ways to add annotations.

For video assets, an annotation will automatically tie the comment to a specific frame, and mark that down on the timeline. All comments show up in chronological order in the right-hand chat.

Versions

Navigating to the next tab on the top right will bring you to the version history. This allows you to stack versions on top of each other, rather than working with multiple individual files.

To add a new version after receiving feedback, click on the upload icon to upload the new asset. The version history will display all previous versions, and you can easily watch older ones by clicking on them, or even revert back to an older version if needed.

Approval & Asset Status

Each creative asset uploaded to Focal has a status. When this is filled out, you will see it as a small icon on the top right of the asset thumbnail. This makes it easy to see which assets require additional checks or new versions, even if one brief consists of multiple assets.

Asset statuses can be changed from the top left in the media player, or by selecting one or multiple assets in the board view (hold shift to select multiple), and then changing the status from the bottom menu.

The available asset statuses can be changed by space owners under settings -> available options.
