Add custom metadata to your assets to find them faster

Updated over a week ago

To start adding tags and custom metadata to your assets, start by navigating into the space settings and "Media columns". This is where you can add new columns that contain additional information on the media assets in your library.

Once created, these columns can be added to your grid view in the asset library by going to customize columns, and it will also show up as an additional filtering option in the search bar.

Selection columns

The most popular column type is "Selection", which will show up as a drop-down column in the grid view.

Start by adding a custom column, pick selection as the column type and give it a name. After that, start adding some options for the different values of that column. All these options will be displayed in the drop-down in the grid view in the asset library.

Single or multi-select

If the asset can only have one of the tags that you place under the selection, leave the "allow multiple values" toggle off. This will result in a "single-select" column.

If the asset can have multiple options, toggle on the "Allow multiple values" option. This will make it possible to assign multiple tags in the dropdown.

Show in library sidebar

When toggling on this option, the column will show up as a quick link on the left-hand side of the asset library. This is a great option if it contains tags that you use often.
