The first time that you attempt to record a video in Folktale, you will first be asked to grant permission for Folktale to use your camera and microphone. The prompt will look something like this (though it visually changes from device-to-device, the wording is generally the same):
If you’re not sure if permission has been granted, you can check this by following these steps:
For iPhones:
Whilst on the record screen, press the icon to the far left on the address bar (it looks like ‘AA’ ). From the menu that pops up, select “Website Settings”.
Towards the bottom of the page should be a section labeled “ALLOW PORTAL.FOLKTALE.IO TO ACCESS”. There you will find listed options for Camera, Microphone and Location. To the right of these will be the preference that is currently selected.
To modify these tap them to bring up a list of options (Ask, Deny, Allow). Ensure that you have selected Allow for each of these options.
For Android Devices:
Whilst on the record screen, tap the padlock icon on the far-right of the address bar. On the menu that appears, select “Permissions”.
Ensure that permission for Location, Camera, Microphone and Sound are all set to “Allowed” by pressing the toggle button associated with each.
