Products are the content type that power the editorial shopping experiences on Condé Nast websites. Products do not have stand-alone pages, but instead, can be inserted into other content types. For example: you might create a Product for a pair of Apple Airpods. You'll then put that Airpods Product into a Copilot Article, as a slide in a Gallery, or in a Review, similar to the way you would add a Photo uploaded to Copilot.

Creating a Product

Select "Product" from the Create menu in the upper righthand corner of the top navigation bar in Copilot.

Once you're on the Product creation page, the following fields are required:

  • Product name. The name of the Product being created as an asset.

  • Site Image. This is the image that will appear when you add a product to the body of an article or as a slide in a gallery.

  • Offers. This is where you provide all of the information that goes into the buy buttons that you'll see on Verso whenever you use a Product.

    • Retailer Name. This is the name of the merchant who is selling the Product. e.g. Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.

    • Offer URL. The link where the reader can buy the Product.

    • Offer Short URL. This field is non-editable and the value here will only appear after a product has been published. This is the Conde Nast optimized purchase link.

    • Currency. The default for your brand should match your country's primary currency. Use the dropdown if you need to change the currency.

    • Price. What it costs at the time of publishing at the link you've included as the Offer URL.

    • Sale Price. If there is a sale and you want to present a strike price in the buy button in Verso, include a "Sale Price"

  • Multiple offers. If the Product is available from multiple retailers and you want to have multiple buy buttons show for it then add another offer and do it all again.

Publishing a product

Products have the same publish experience as any other page in Copilot. Click the Publish button in the upper lefthand corner and schedule or publish the product to go live. Because products don't have their own pages at this time, there is no danger in publishing them before you intend to put them into Articles, Galleries, and Reviews. Don't worry about optimizing the publish slug for SEO as, again, there are no user-facing pages associated with Products.

Note: The "Preview" and "View Live" buttons on Products don't take you to pages where you can see the Product because, as covered above, Products don't have stand-alone pages and only exist as data to be inserted into Articles, Galleries, and Reviews.
