Get ready to optimize! The SEO Scorecard is a tool to help your article reach its maximum search potential.

  1.  First, save your work!

  2.  All content will default to evergreen, so select news if you want to make a Google News play.

  3.  The search keyword field is not audience-facing and won't show up anywhere on your article. Fill it out for internal use to help boost your score. Enter 2 or more words which someone would likely type into Google to find your article. The drop down menu shows you the most popular search phrases for Evergreen, or rising trending keywords for News. These can help guide you choose your SEO Hed and the keywords you use throughout the article.

  4. Next, click on the SEO icon on the top left to open the drawer and view our suggestions. The SEO score ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best score.  As you optimize your content and save, the score will increase!

The highlighted fields at the bottom of the scorecard indicate where you earned your points (Good job!). The fields at the top of the scorecard that are not highlighted indicate areas of potential. Simply click on the field to be taken to the section of your article where the suggested edit can be completed!

Remember, a low score will never prevent you from saving or publishing. The feature is there simply to provide tips for optimization. Take 'em or leave 'em, it's completely up to you!
