What is a template?
Templates give you the ability to save information such as metadata and body formatting, so that you don't need to recreate every new story from scratch. We hope that this feature will save you time during the creation process and limit the room for error while selecting meta data options, such as search and recirculation checkboxes.
Reasons you may want to use a template:
Save certain formatting you'd like to re-use for common articles/galleries that follow similar structure, such as using 2 columns, page breaks, bulleted lists, accordion FAQ schema or Tables.
How do I create a template?
You can create a new template by clicking the Gear icon and selecting 'Templates' from the dropdown menu. This will direct you to a Saved Templates page with all templates listed if any have been saved.
Select "Create" in the top right corner and choose between Article and Gallery template. After that you can begin customizing your template. In the 'Headline' field of the template, write in the name that you'd like to use to find this template in the future, and that others in your organization will be able to understand as well. (i.e. Shopping Guide v2, One Column template). When you've finished adding your template preferences, click Save. You'll now be able to Preview, edit, archive or duplicate this template. Once saved, your brand will have access to this template when creating their own articles/galleries.
How do I use my new template?
There are two ways to do this
Method One is to simply open the template you want to use and click on the 3 dots next to Preview and click on "Create Content from template" and a new tab will open with a Article/Gallery using the template you wish to use.
Or
Method 2 - When you click Create "article" or Create "Gallery" from the right-hand menu dropdown, you'll now see a pop-up that gives you the option to create an article/gallery from blank, as usual, or to use the new templates feature by clicking Start article from template or Start gallery from template . Select one of the saved templates from the dropdown and click Create to access it.
What are Archive/Restore options?
If you wish to hide the template from being used to create stories, simply click Archive and that would suppress the template from showing up when editors click Create -> Article/Gallery
And if you wish to undo Archive, click Restore and editors will be able to use the template via Create -> Article/Gallery
Note: Archived templates can still be viewable by togggling "Show archived templates" on the templates listing page
