Copilot's rich text editor allows for both curly and straight quotation marks to accommodate brands' preferences. Here is how you add them:
Double Curly Quotes
To add double curly quotations to your content, begin your text with double quotes (they will look like straight quotes), write your text, and close your quote. The previously straight quotes will automatically turn into curly quotes. See below.
If you are editing pre-existing text, you can add curly quotes by erasing the end quote and re-adding it. Both quotes will then become curly quotes. See below.
Double Straight Quotes
If you are typing and your quotes automatically turn into curly quotes (as expected) but you would like them to be straight, hit ctrl-z
and then will convert back to straight quotes.
If you are trying to add straight quotes and are finding that they are automatically changing to curly (see above), delete the end quotation mark and add it right back, then do the same for the front quotation mark. Note that you must erase the closing quote first. See below.
Single Curly Quotes
To add single curly quotes in the rich text editor, begin your text with a single quote (it will look like straight quotes), write your text, and close your quote. The previously straight single quote will automatically turn into a curly quote. See below.
If you are trying to change already existing straight single quotes to curly, simply change the trailing single quote and both will automatically switch to curly.
Single Straight Quotes
If you are typing and your quotes automatically turn into curly quotes (as expected) but you would like them to be straight, hit ctrl-z
and then will convert back to straight.
If you are trying to add single straight quotes and are finding that they are automatically changing to curly (see above), delete the end quotation mark and add it right back, then do the same for the front quotation mark. Note that you must erase the closing quote first.
Other things to note:
If you paste text from another text editor, the correct quotation marks will carry over into Copilot.
Opening quotation marks cannot be in the middle of the word. There must be a white space preceding it.
