Encore is a tool that facilitates the quick and easy republishing of content between internal brand teams at Conde Nast. We do not have the rights to republish every single story that exists in our content corpus. Whether or not a story is eligible to republish is based on the specific contract we have with the author of that story.
Encore relies on lists of author names to determine if a story is eligible to be republished. These lists are called: the Global Author Syndication Lists. If the name of an author is on the list then all of the stories by that author will appear in the Syndication tab of Encore. Other teams can then click on those stories and republish them on their Copilots. Stories that are by authors who aren't on the approved list will show up in the restricted section of Encore. These stories can be discovered by other teams, but the button to republish them is disabled.
Content managers and legal team members make frequent changes to the approved author lists in Google Sheets. Currently, Encore syncs with the Google Sheets every 24 hours. We've learned that our editorial teams sometimes need changes to the approved author lists to be reflected in the Encore app within minutes, not days. Here's how to update Encore on those occasions.
