A redirect allows you to redirect traffic from a working or non-working URL to another. Redirects can be created for many reasons, such as:

  • I want to redirect an old version of an article to a new one

  • I want to redirect a gallery to an article or vice versa

  • We have content competing against each other and want to redirect one piece of content to another

  • I want to redirect a tag page to a bundle

  • I want to create a vanity URL for a marketing campaign

This Admin-only feature allows you to accomplish these redirects without needing engineering help.

  • On the ‘Publishing URL’ field input the slug of the current web page (A) that you want to redirect

  • On the ‘Target’ field input the slug of the destination web page (B)

  • Keep the ‘Response code’ as ‘301 - Moved Permanently’, unless you have discussed it with your brand's SEO contact

If your brand uses trailing slashes

If you’re brand uses trailing slashes, please follow these two rules when creating redirects:

  • In the Publish URL (Source) field, do not add a trailing slash to the end of the URL

  • In the Target (Destination) field, add a trailing slash to the end of the URL

Following these rules will ensure your redirect works without any additional redirect hops occurring.

Updating a Published Redirect

  • To edit an existing Redirect, go to the ‘Publish URL’ field and unlock the URL and modify the slug. You can also adjust the ‘Target (destination)’ URL if needed

  • Click on the ‘Publish’ button and choose 'Original publish date' to publish immediately or select 'Create new' to schedule when the change goes live

Unpublishing a Redirect

  • Click on the ellipsis and choose ‘Unpublish’ and wait for the confirmation message to appear ‘Unpublished’

  • Once unpublished the original published URL will replace the redirect URL

Finding a Redirect in Copilot

There are three ways to find the redirects created or published:

  • On the ‘Search’ field, choose ‘Redirect’. This option will show the redirects created for your particular brand

  • On the ‘Search’ field, input the URL of a redirect. If there is a redirect to that URL, the result will be displayed

  • On the brand’s Dashboard, choose ‘All Content’ and look for the redirect you need
