Enter the editorial details.

Hed: The recipe Title

Dek: The Hednote. This will get truncated to 160 characters when shown on other pages.

Promo hed and dek: Catchier versions of the normal hed and dek. These are optional fields.

Restaurant and/or author: Both of these fields will appear in the byline. Restaurant is not required.

Recipe type: Any recipe entered by an editor should be checked editorial, regardless of where it came from (this includes cookbooks). Sponsored recipes should only be checked by sales or marketing. Third-party recipes should not be selected by anyone.

Member is only enabled when you are looking at a member-created recipe. For member recipes, the public sharing option will be enabled and the brand site will pull the member’s username into the byline in place of an author.

ROTD (recipe of the day) date: Add when applicable

Issue date: Add the month and year the recipe was published, or it will default to the current month and year.

Tout image: This is the hero image and thumbnail for the recipe. It is not required, but can be added via the asset finder or uploaded from your desktop.

Skip Read Only Information.

This section collects information from the recipe page once it goes live, and also stores the legacy of old content, as well as member id.

Add the ingredients.

You can create individual groups for your ingredients (i.e. for the icing, dry goods, etc.), or list all ingredients under the same group. Within these groups are modules for the individual ingredients.

The only required fields are quantity, ingredient and description, but the following are available.

  • Quantity

  • Unit size (i.e. 12-ounce, large, heaping)

  • Unit (a dropdown of unit types)

  • Ingredient size (i.e. “large” eggs)

  • Ingredient

  • Treatment (i.e. sliced, finely chopped)

  • Note (i.e. day old bread is best, remove stems)

Autogenerate the ingredient description.

This field can be freely edited and is exactly what the reader will see on the recipe page (they don't see the data you entered previously).

Add the preparation

Specify the preheat temperature and cooking time.

Add the prep, active, and total time.

Add the yield results by selecting a unit and then specifying the range. Use the autogenerate want to see how the results will display.

Note: At the moment autogenerate uses “serves,” you’ll want to modify this if you’ve selected particular units (i.e. cups).

Add a preparation group.

Like ingredients, preparation groups can be granular or broad—you can leave the group name and include all instructions within the same group.

Add instructions

To add multiple instructions, click the the add instruction button under the instruction module.

i.e. Place 2 slices Pullman or other white bread on a cutting board and spread mayonnaise on top side of each; this is key to a golden, delectable crunch.

Ignore steps.

Add a note.

If you wish to add an editor or chef’s note at the bottom of the page, include the title and description here. You can adjust the title to say things like "Cook's Note" or "Make Ahead". This field will always be displayed in italics on the recipe detail page.

Add nutritional information.

Note that the nutritional info and nutritional info source are now consolidated into one field. Add the nutritional info source as an H4 so that it displays properly on the recipe detail page (e.g. ####Nutritional info provided by Self)

If nutritional information is left blank, it will autogenerate from Edamam. This does not apply to sponsored content.
Add the remaining data.

Add the Social Title and Description.

Social title and description are required for publish. They can be autogenerated from the hed and dek. The social tout is optional.

Add taxonomy.

Try to represent as many of the 13 taxonomy categories as possible here. The categories include:

Source taxonomy must be added to all recipes, since it displays in multiple places on the site. For cookbook recipes, add the “Cookbook” taxonomy.

In order to show the cookbook title at the top and cookbook information at the bottom of the recipe, create a piece of Cookbook content in Copilot, then add that Cookbook as related content here.

Add SEO title and description: Both fields can be autogenerated from the hed and dek.
