What does hotel syndication mean?

Encore is Condé Nast’s internal platform that facilitates the quick and easy syndication of content between sites. Articles and Galleries can be syndicated directly on Encore.

As of February 2024, it is now possible to syndicate individual Hotels directly on Encore.

Also, if a CNT gallery that has hotels as gallery slides is syndicated on Encore — the hotels will copy over to Copilot for the syndication. This has been the case for some time.

What will be the publish status of the syndicated hotels?

All syndicated hotels will copy over in draft status. The editor is required to publish each individual syndicated hotel in order for them to appear on the website.

Can I syndicate hotels via Encore Shared Drafts?

Yes. It is possible to syndicate individual hotels on Encore Shared Drafts and hotels that are included within a gallery as gallery slides.

Will hotels be translated if I use Encore's translation tool?

Yes, if you are syndicating an individual hotel directly on Encore.

No, if you are syndicating a gallery that has hotels as gallery slides.

What hotel fields will copy over?

All fields will copy over, excluding: Hotel Offers, Related Content, Taxonomy, and the Publishing Slug.

What happens if I syndicate a hotel that I have syndicated in the past?

Two scenarios:

  1. If you are syndicating an individual hotel directly on Encore and you have syndicated the hotel in the past – either within a gallery or individually – Encore will show you a syndication link for the existing version of the hotel in Copilot. A new syndicated version of the hotel will not be created. This is to prevent content duplication in Copilot.

  2. If you are syndicating a gallery that includes a hotel that you have syndicated in the past – either within a gallery or individually – a new syndicated version of the hotel will not be created. The existing version of the hotel in Copilot will be added to your newly syndicated gallery. If the existing version of the hotel has already been published in the past, it will not need to be republished.

Can all CNT markets syndicate hotels?

Yes.

What happens when a brand that does not have the 'hotel' content type available in Copilot syndicates a hotel on Encore?

Two scenarios:

  1. If you are syndicating a gallery on Encore, the hotels will not copy over to Copilot. There will be a blank gallery slide on your syndicated gallery.

  2. If you are syndicating an individual hotel on Encore, the error message below will appear:

What about the SEO implications for hotel syndication?

All published syndicated hotels will get hreflang – which will avoid SEO conflict between markets.
