Before you begin, learn how to embed CNE Video in Story video field for articles and galleries here. The configuring options are available only for articles in Copilot.
One of the most powerful storytelling tools available in the Copilot Articles is the ability to place a CNE video in the header of the story. We have now launched a suite of new video player controls designed to give editors more power over this content and enhance the viewing experience for the audience. Here's a breakdown of these functionalities and how to use them within Copilot.
Accessing these controls:
Step 1: Click on search on the story video field in an article
Step 2: Select the CNE Video you would like to add.
Step 3: After selecting a video, you'll be presented with a screen where you can configure how the video will behave on your story.
Here are the following things you can configure:
1. Disable Autoplay:
What it is: Selecting this toggle will prevent the video from automatically playing when a user lands on the article/gallery.
Why it's useful: Autoplay can be disruptive for some viewers, especially on pages with multiple videos. Disabling it allows users to choose when they want videos to play, creating a more controlled experience.
2. Muted:
What it is: It allows editors to control audio playback when a user lands on a page.
Why it's useful: Mutes audio playback to prevent unexpected audio from surprising viewers, especially those browsing on mobile data or in sound-sensitive environments.
How to use it: This functionality can be only used when "Disable Autoplay" is enabled as we don't ever want to allow audio to autoplay for our audience. As a default, all autoplays are muted. You can choose to Mute or Unmute when the "Disable Autoplay" toggle is ON. Only when a user chooses to play the video do you have the ability to control the play/mute of the audio.
3. Loop Video:
What it is: This feature allows you to set the video to replay automatically once it reaches the end.
Why it's useful: Looping can be beneficial for short, eye-catching videos like product demos or social media teasers that you want to continuously play on a webpage.
4. Disable Ads :
What it is: Switching this Toggle ON removes third-party advertisements from playing before the video plays.
Why it's useful: Disabling ads creates a cleaner, more streamlined viewing experience for the audience, particularly valuable for premium content or video presentations.
Note: Don't disable ads on a video without a really good reason and looping in your Ad Ops partners.
5. Continuous Play :
What it is: Switching this Toggle ON enables automatic playback of multiple videos one after another, creating a video playlist.
Why it's useful: Continuous play is perfect for showcasing a series of related videos, educational content, or video testimonials.
Note: When the Loop Video control is enabled, the Continuous Play is automatically disabled and viceversa.
There are two ways to access these controls after you have added a Story Video. You can either click on the "…" icon on the Story video and choose the "Edit" option.
Or you can access these controls in "Content Header" section under "Story Video Configuration". Look for it next to "Page Layout".
With the ability to disable autoplay, mute playback, loop videos, control ads and continuous play editors can tailor the viewing experience to their content and audience preferences.
Happy Storytelling!
