When we use monetized affiliate links in our commerce content, we are legally required to disclose this to our users. This is referred to as the affiliate disclaimer. As soon as an affiliate link is added to a page, displaying the affiliate disclaimer is mandatory!

For more information, refer to the FTC guidelines.

Example

How to control the Affiliate Disclaimer?

The affiliate disclaimer can be influenced by using the listed Verso settings under “categories” in the taxonomy section of your content.

  1. Affiliate Disclaimer Disable:

    • Function: Hides the default affiliate disclaimer.

    • Use Case: This should be utilized if the affiliate disclaimer text needs modification or if the disclaimer is to be displayed in a different location within the content. Note: This setting does not disable the automatic monetization of affiliate links.

  2. Affiliate Disclaimer Force:

    • Function: Ensures the affiliate disclaimer is displayed.

    • Use Case: This is required if the disclaimer does not automatically appear on a page where affiliate links are used.

  3. Affiliate Links Disable:

    • Functions:

      • Removes the automatic monetization of affiliate links.

      • Hides the affiliate disclaimer on the page.

    • Use Case: The content should / must not be monetized.
