How to read primary links.

Once you are in your brand’s primary links config set, you should see something like the following:

Please reference the image above for the below numbered definitions:

  1. Global defaults are the default settings for your brand. These are the primary links settings across your entire site.

  2. Channel rules are “overrides” that change the primary links/top navigation based on a specific channel for your brand. In the above example, Architectural Digest has two sub-brands called Clever and AD Pro, both of which have different top navigations. Most brands do not create custom top navigation for specific channels.

  3. Brand selector allows you to switch between brands. Please note that as of Mar 14, 2023, we do not yet have unsaved changes functionalities and you will lose any unsaved changes you made to your first brand.

  4. Workspace selector lets you toggle between the “live/read-only” view and the “sandbox/editable” view. This is to prevent users from accidentally making major changes to their brand top navigations

  5. Back button brings you back to the feature/config set selector page.

  6. Menu item is an individual item within the primary links array. Each item can be dragged and dropped to reorder, and once you are in the “sandbox/editable” workspace, you can click the pencil icon to make changes to the item.

  7. Item type (internally known as nodeType) determines how Verso renders the primary links item on the frontend. For example, the link item type is a single child link, whereas a root item type supports children. For non-MegaMenu brands, the only item type present should be link.

  8. Nested link chevron lets you set up children within the link for a brand to support MegaMenu. Before doing this, please reference the question below on how to set up a MegaMenu for a brand.
