It is very quick and simple to add the codes via GTM. Follow the instructions below:

TRACKING CODE

<!-- Formisimo Tracking Code -->
<script src="//cdn-static.formisimo.com/tracking/js/tracking.js"></script>
<!-- End of Formisimo Tracking Code -->

1. Set up a trigger

This is where you want the code to fire. If you already have your triggers set up in GTM head straight to step 2.

  • Head to Triggers in the left hand menu of your overview.
  • Click New.
  • Name your trigger - e.g. Checkout, click anywhere within the 'Untitled Trigger' title to edit.
  • Click within the Trigger Configuration box.
  • Choose your trigger type, we would suggest Page View for most instances.
  • Select when this trigger should be applied, either on all page views or some page views, we would suggest some page views.
  • Set the conditions for the page views, select from the dropdowns - we would suggest URL, contains and the URL you would like to track e.g. www.formisimo.com/checkout. If your URL contains a query string do not include this e.g. www.formisimo.com/checkout?12345678ID only include www.formisimo.com/checkout?12345678ID, instead of selecting contains you can select begins with.
  • Click Save in the right hand corner. The trigger should now appear in your list of triggers.

2. Set up a tag

The tag contains the code that you want to fire on the pages you have just set up in your trigger.

  • In your overview click New Tag.
  • Name your Tag e.g. Formisimo Checkout Tracking.
  • Click anywhere within the Tag Configuration box.
  • Choose your tag type, select Custom HTML.
  • Paste the Formisimo tracking code in to the box (you can find the code in Account in the top right hand corner of the app, in the Tracking Code tab, copy the tracking code).
  • Click anywhere within the Triggering box.
  • Select the Trigger you created.
  • Click Save in the top right hand corner. The tag should now appear in your list of tags.

MULTI STEP FORMS

To track multi step forms you will need to repeat the above for each step. Please see below for an example of where the codes should be placed.

4 Step Form

Step 1 - Tracking code only

Step 2 - Tracking and conversion codes

Step 3 - Tracking and conversion codes

Step 4 - Tracking and conversion codes

Success/Thank You page - Conversion code only

If you are unsure where the code needs to be placed on your site you can always drop me an email with a link to the form and I can review for you and suggest the best configuration.

PUBLISHING

When you have set up your triggers and tags you will need to publish your changes so the codes will start to fire on your site and your forms begin to track.

To do this head to the top right hand corner of GTM and click Publish. You can use Preview Mode to see how the changes effect your site before going live with your changes. After using Preview Mode you will need to exit preview and click Publish.
