If your solar system is financed through a third-party provider such as SunRun, Sunnova, Sunlight Financial, GoodLeap, or another financier, and you’ve recently sold or are in the process of selling your home, this article outlines the steps needed to initiate a warranty transfer with Freedom Forever.
⚠️ Important: Warranty Transfers Can Only Be Processed After PTO
Please note that Freedom Forever cannot begin the warranty transfer process until the system has received Permission to Operate (PTO) from the utility company. If PTO has not yet been granted, please wait until that milestone is complete before starting the steps below.
📝 Step 1: Contact Your Finance Company First
Once PTO is confirmed, the first step is to contact your solar finance company directly to initiate the ownership and agreement transfer.
Your finance provider will:
Process the change of ownership or account holder.
Update their internal records and customer portal.
Send official confirmation to Freedom Forever that the transfer has been completed.
Freedom Forever cannot proceed with any updates or support transfers until we receive this confirmation from your finance provider.
✅ Step 2: Provide the New Homeowner’s Information to Freedom Forever
After your financier has confirmed the transfer and notified us, please provide Freedom Forever with the following information:
New homeowner’s full name
New homeowner’s phone number
New homeowner’s email address
