What happens in the event of a merger or acquisition?
Updated over a week ago

If a stock you hold is part of a merger, your stock will be replaced by stock in a bigger merged company. There’s nothing you’ll need to do and you’ll see the changes reflected in your investments in the app.

For an acquisition, if your shares are held in the acquirer, the only change you’ll see is a potential change in the value as the market reacts to the new acquisition.

However, if your stocks are being acquired, your stock would be replaced by cash or some stock in the acquiring company. This would appear in the app as either cash in your Freetrade account, new shares from the company who acquired your shares or a combination of the two.

We will notify you in the event of any corporate actions that will affect your investments.
