How do I assign a skill to a student, and what happens after?

Written by Matt Giovanniello

How to assign a skill

  1. Select "Library" from the menu on the left side of the screen.

  2. Select the subject, category, and then the skill(s) that you want to assign to a student.

3. After selecting the desired skill(s), click the "Assign" button at the top of the screen.

4. Select the student(s) that you want to assign the skill(s) to from the right side of the screen.

5. Select "Assign Skills" from the bottom of the screen to assign the skill(s) to the selected student(s).

There are two different ways to assign a skill to students:

  1. "Assign Skills": This assigns the selected skills as practice for students to complete in their Learning Sessions, without treating it as progress monitoring data towards an IEP goal. You'll still see progress monitoring data and analytics for these skills on the student's dashboard.

  2. "Assign as Goals": This assigns the selected skills and treats the progress monitoring data as trial data towards a goal in their IEP.

The rest of this article covers what happens after you click "Assign Skills".

What happens after you assign a skill

Navigate back to the student's dashboard. At the bottom of this page, the new skill you added will pop up.

Here, you can see statistics on the student's progress with this new skill. By toggling the "Include in Session?" switch, this skill will now show up in practice sessions for your student. By clicking the eye icon, you can see even more detailed statistics for that new skill.

How to include/remove a skill from a student's learning session

Once a skill is assigned to a student, it appears on both the student's dashboard and their column on the Assignments screen. To include a skill in the student's next learning session, follow the steps below.

  1. Navigate to the Assignments screen by pressing "Assignments" from the menu on the left side of the screen

  2. In the column for the desired student, check the box to enable the skill in the next learning session and uncheck the box to not include the skill in the next learning session

3. Start the learning session with the selected skills by pressing "Start Session" at the bottom of the student's column
