Fixed deposits can be opened now easily through the FriMi app without visiting an NTB branch and you can check on your FriMi fixed deposit through your FriMi app itself.
FriMi fixed deposit can be opened by any active FriMi account holder.
Rates of the Fixed deposits are the same as the NTB fixed deposit rates. Fixed deposit rates can be checked through the FriMi app itself from the below path,
Login to the FriMi App > Tap on Fixed deposit option on homescreen > select Rates
Features of FriMi Fixed deposits
FriMi fixed deposit, can only be open via FriMi app.
Minimum deposit amount is LKR 50,000.00
Tenure of the FriMi Fixed deposit is from 1 month to 60 months
Interest can be received at maturity or at monthly
Monthly interest FriMi Fixed deposits can be opened if the tenure is more than 6 months
FriMi fixed deposit can only be opened from the funds in the FriMi account or the linked NTB account
If the Fixed deposit is withdrawn before the maturity, the rate will depend on the revised period and the revised rate. It will be communicated only at the time of the withdrawal.
You can transfer the capital amount and the interest (if applicable) at the end of the maturity period to your FriMi account or you can visit your nearest NTB branch to withdraw the funds.
FriMi fixed deposit maturity instructions can be changed by requesting through the General Service Request option of the FriMi app
Let’s open a FriMi Fixed deposit through the below path,
Login to the FriMi app > Tap on Fixed deposit option on homescreen > Enter the Fixed deposit Nick Name > Select the interest to be paid at Maturity/ monthly > Enter the deposit amount (minimum LKR 50,000) > Select source account > Select tenure of the Fixed deposit > continue > select the maturity instructions > Continue > Read and accept terms and conditions > Check the FD details and confirm

Approximate Interest which will be receiving at the end of tenure will be shown after selecting the tenure with the interest rate.
Maturity Instructions can be selected as below,
1) If interest is to be paid at maturity
Withdraw interest and principal
Renew the fixed deposit with interest and the capital amount
Withdraw interest and reinvest the capital amount
2) If interest is to be paid at monthly
Withdraw principal
Reinvest principal
If selected to withdraw Principal and/or interest amount of the fixed deposit at maturity, funds will be transferred to the FriMi account at the maturity of the FriMi Fixed deposit.
To close the FriMi Fixed deposit follow the below path,
Login to the FriMi app > Tap on Fixed deposit option on homescreen > Select the FD > Services > Uplift FD > Continue > Select the FD withdrawal details > continue and confirm
Fixed deposit principal amount and interest will be credited to the FriMi account within two working days.
FriMi fixed deposits can also be en-cashed through any Nations Trust branch.
