Follow this guide to safely clean your RoboCap without damaging its electronic components, cameras, or sensors.
⚠️ Important: RoboCap has an integrated, non-detachable design. The fabric body and electronic components cannot be separated or removed for washing.
Do not wash or soak RoboCap in water.
Do not disassemble any part of the device for cleaning.
Clean RoboCap only by gently wiping the appropriate external surfaces.
Make sure RoboCap is completely dry before powering it on.
What You'll Need
Before cleaning your RoboCap, prepare:
Microfiber lint-free cloth
Neutral detergent or 70% isopropyl alcohol
Lens cleaning paper or microfiber lens cloth
Lens cleaning fluid, if needed
Dry, soft-bristled anti-static brush
Cleaning the Fabric Surface
For the fabric areas that come into contact with your head:
Lightly dampen a microfiber lint-free cloth with a small amount of neutral detergent or 70% isopropyl alcohol.
Wring out the cloth thoroughly. No liquid should drip from the cloth.
Gently wipe the fabric surface to remove sweat, dust, and stains.
Avoid pressing or rubbing vigorously, as liquid could seep through gaps and reach the electronics inside.
Allow RoboCap to air-dry naturally in a cool, well-ventilated area.
⚠️ Do not use a hair dryer or other source of hot air, and do not leave RoboCap in direct sunlight to dry. Make sure the device is completely dry before powering it on.
Cleaning the Camera Lenses
RoboCap has six optical lenses that should be cleaned carefully to avoid scratching or damaging their coating.
Use only lens cleaning paper or a microfiber lens cloth to clean the lenses.
For fingerprints or oily smudges, apply a small amount of lens cleaning fluid to the cloth. Do not apply cleaning fluid directly to the lens.
Gently wipe the lens surface in one direction.
Use a dry, soft-bristled anti-static brush to remove loose dust from the gaps around the lenses.
⚠️ Do not use ordinary paper towels or wet wipes on the lenses, as they may scratch the lens coating.
Cleaning the Casing and USB-C Port
Plastic Casing
Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol, wring it out thoroughly, and gently wipe the plastic surfaces.
USB-C Port and Small Gaps
Use a dry anti-static brush to gently remove dust from the USB-C port and other small gaps.
If additional cleaning is needed, use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol and wrung out thoroughly.
Allow the area to dry completely before powering on RoboCap or connecting a cable.
Cleaning Exposed FPC Ribbons
For any exposed FPC (flexible printed circuit) ribbons, use a dry, soft cloth only.
Do not use alcohol, water, detergent, or any other liquid on the FPC ribbons.
Before Using RoboCap Again
After cleaning, check that all parts of RoboCap are completely dry, especially around the cameras, USB-C port, and other openings.
Once everything is dry, you can safely power on and use your RoboCap again.
