Is Martingale/Layering allowed?

Written by Support

Yes, martingale and layering strategies are allowed within a single account.

However, these strategies must not be used across multiple accounts to avoid manipulation or strategy abuse.

Example:
Opening the same pair across multiple accounts is only permitted under the following conditions:

  • You may open a Buy position on XAUUSD in Account A and open another Buy position on XAUUSD in Account B, as long as both positions are opened within 5 minutes of each other.

  • If the positions are not opened within 5 minutes of each other, then the position in Account B may only be opened after the position in Account A has been fully closed.

FTM Trade Copier Exemption

If you are using the official FTM Trade Copier to mirror trades across your accounts, the 5-minute rule is applied differently.

When a trade is placed simultaneously across multiple accounts through the FTM Trade Copier, those copied trades are recognised by our system as a single coordinated entry and are treated as such. In this case, you are permitted to open another trade on the same pair across the same accounts after 5 minutes, even while the original copied trade is still running provided the original position is still running in full which means no partial position has been closed in any of the connected accounts. This is because the simultaneous nature of the entry is verified and logged by our system.

This exemption applies exclusively to trades placed through the official FTM Trade Copier. Trades placed manually or through any external third-party copier outside of the FTM platform do not qualify and remain subject to the standard rule without exception.

Important conditions for the copier exemption to apply:

  • The trades must be placed simultaneously across accounts through the FTM Trade Copier at the point of entry

  • The copied positions across all linked accounts must be closed at the same time. If a position is closed on one account while remaining open on another, regardless of whether accounts were delinked before or after the close, the exemption no longer applies and the standard sequential trading rule will be applied retroactively to the entire sequence

  • Delinking accounts through the copier and then closing positions individually does not preserve the exemption. Our system checks that closure is simultaneous across all accounts that were part of the original copied entry. If it is not, the trades will be treated as sequential trading across accounts

This condition exists because closing positions at different times across accounts particularly immediately after delinking is the equivalent of manually separating what was originally a copied trade, which defeats the purpose of the exemption entirely.

If positions on the same pair are opened across different accounts more than 5 minutes apart without using the FTM Trade Copier, the following applies:

Any profit, whether partial or full, generated from such activity across all accounts involved will not be eligible for performance reward. This behaviour is classified as sequential trading across accounts and is strictly prohibited.

Challenge Phase

If more than 20% of the total profit in the challenge phase is made through trades violating this rule, you will be required to redo the challenge.
