If your Gmail inbox feels messy or emails aren’t being sorted into the right labels, here's how to fix it. Fyxer uses categories to help you stay on top of priorities, but the behavior depends on your preferences.
Step 1: Check your inbox settings
Go to your Fyxer AI Dashboard
Click Settings
Head to Preferences
Under Email Categorization, you’ll see a list of categories (like “To Respond” or “FYI”).
Each category has a checkbox next to it:
Checked = emails will skip your inbox and go directly into the label/folder.
Unchecked = emails with this label will stay in your inbox (with the label applied).
💡 Tip: Want less clutter in your inbox? Try checking most categories so those emails go straight into their folder.
Step 2: Make sure Gmail is connected
If emails aren’t being labeled at all, your Gmail connection might have dropped.
Go to Dashboard > Integrations
Make sure Gmail shows as Connected
If you're still stuck: Try disconnecting and re-connecting your Gmail account - just make sure to re-enable permissions when prompted.
Step 3: Understand how Fyxer applies labels
Fyxer applies one label per email, to keep things clean and easy to scan. Gmail allows multiple, but Fyxer will only use one - whichever is the best fit.
If you’re expecting a different label, double-check your categorization rules and make sure the email content matches the logic.
Example:
If you’re expecting something to land in “To Respond,” the AI looks for action-oriented language - things like questions, requests, or tasks that clearly require your reply. If the email doesn’t contain this kind of signal, it may be sorted into a lower-priority category like “FYI."
