Once you are happy with the content of your learning experience (game) design, you can publish this for your learners. Publishing means that your game becomes playable with whomever you want to share it with.

The games you create are not listed for all Gamoteca users, only to ones you personally share the game with through Instant Sessions using the game URL,inviting to a Custom Session (More on that below)or inviting to your Workspace as a Player.

After publishing a game, it has a unique URL link. If you want to make any changes (a change can be as small as a change of a letter) you have to publish the game again in order to make those changes appear on the playable version of the game.

Anyone with the URL link is able to play your game. You can send your game link to anybody via email, messenger, or add it to your website or LMS as an HTML link.

How to Publish a Game?

1. On the game description, click the Play game button

2. On the next screen, click on the Publish to play button.

3. After a few seconds, your game will be published, and you will be able to share it with users in two ways:

  • Instant Sessions: Learners are able to self-join via a game link or through a learning management system (LMS) integration. If a game has multiple roles players can invite their own teammates to join the game and play with them.

  • Custom Sessions: You are able to organise game sessions by inviting players with a game code. You can choose the exact team and role configuration, and when to start the game session.

Note: There is an additional Random player mode option, where players get automatically connected with other players on a first-come-first-serve basis. As players are randomly paired, only use this option in trusted environments, where the players know each other.

If Random-Player mode is turned on, they will be connected with the next available learner(s) who join(s) the game in the other role(s).
